There’s such beauty in being able to catch up with an old friend. Stephanie moved to Minnesota about 8 months after I moved out here. We became quick friends as she was good friends with Eric, Katherine and, the Pastor of the church we attend. She was one of the only people outside of Tim & Katherine that knew Eric was getting ready to propose.
Last night we got a phone call from Katherine letting us know that Stephanie was in town with her new (of 1.5 years) husband Paul were in town visiting, and that they’d like to see us. So we went over to John & Dorsey Marx’s house where there was BBQ’ed meat, Strawberry Shortcake, and laughter. It was so great to catch up with Stephanie, but also to be reacquainted with our friends Dean, John O., Dave, Jason, Kristi, John, Dorsey, (lil) Jordan, Katherine, Tim, Jason, Lindsey (and their sleepy one) Luke. We had never been over to the Marx’s before, but it felt like home. It was very warm and inviting. They have a beautiful back porch with lots of furniture for gatherings such as this.
It wasn’t till about 11:00 that I finally had to surrender to my sleepy eyes [and my 4:45 am wakeup call].
This counts as something new because I am not normally one to go to something on the spot, nor am I one to feel super comfortable in surroundings I’ve never been in, when in reality maybe it's less about the place, and more about me being comfortable with who I am in a new place.
It was such a breath of fresh air to be out on the back porch with Old and fairly New friends, and laughter. It was medicine for the heart.
