Blake Island

Friday Night I boarded a 1966 Criss Craft with 6 adults and 14, 7th graders.
The sunshine started to peak through the clouds... after a VERY cloudy Day
The ride was nice and smooth, and the company was fantastic By the time I got off the boat on Blake Island I knew all 14 7th graders aboard. I'm really good with names!
Once we got on the Island we set up camp in fear that the darkness would come too fast, and make it harder to set up our beds.
Traci and I brought an air mattress! It was a gift from God for sure!
Look how comfortable it looks!

After setting up, we had a couple "get to know you" games, and a campfire with communion. There's something special about receiving communion around a campfire.
Then we got ready for bed and crawled under the covers, just in time for the raccoons to come out and try to dig through our bags while we were sleeping. We scared many away by shining lights on them, and yelling at them. They're a little too friendly if you ask me!

Traci and I slept like champs, I'm not really sure who else did though, everyone was pretty tired the next morning! Sleeping under the stars is always my favorite part!

Al & Sally (Captain of the boat & co-Captain) fed us a pancake and sausage breakfast and then we packed up our beds, and loaded the boat. After loading, we broke into small groups and had some conversations about "friendship".
Then we gathered for the traditional Blake Island Photo and headed off to a hike!
As we were going to the hike, I took a couple pictures of the boat... such a beautiful boat!
The Graceful spirit herself...
Back to the hike... We hiked through the Forest on a trail.
It was a looooong hike... 1.5 miles or so, and it lead us to a beach! The SUNSHINE came out!!!
The kids played, and played and played.
We hiked back and then we had another session talking about being a Living Sacrifice.
We then loaded the boat and headed home.
This is our "WE SURVIVED" photo.
And here I am ... able to see the Marina from the boat. It was an exciting moment.
I love going on the Blake Island retreat, It's so much fun! The kids were amazing, but my bed felt pretty amazing last night!
