Getting to Watertown was quite a journey.
When I woke on Saturday morning this is what the roads in Minnesota looked like...
Needless to say I continued my "cautiously optimistic" outlook on getting to Watertown that day. All things considered, I was glad to be making my way back to the airport. After another round with the TSA I was more than ready to board that plane. I'm not sure what about my appearance makes me a search subject, but this go-round I was full body scanned, and still patted down around the waist. I read a sign that said the radiation with the full body scan is equal to the radiation of 3 minutes in an airplane, not sure if it's true, but it made me think.
I arrived at my gate (B-13) and found 80 other people who expected to get on a 36 seat airplane to Watertown South Dakota that day. They pretty much put all of our names in a drawing and picked out 36 people who would be getting seats. My seat assignment came in the first round of 10. I was so relieved, I danced the whole way down the jet way, I had my seat assignment in hand and I was getting on that plane!I was so ready to not be in airports and hotels, but I was not by a long shot the person who had been waiting the longest to get to Watertown. There were people who sat by me on the plane that had attempted getting on this plane 3 and 4 times.
God smiled on me and helped me win the lottery to Watertown.
We boarded the plane at 11:35 and didn't take off till nearly 1.
After being frozen to the ground, and then having to be de-iced and let the plane burn off some jet fuel, we were on our way.I walked through the doors to the Watertown airport where my family stood holding a sign that read "Welcome Home Abby" The whole room seemed to burst into cheers; talk about make a girl feel loved!
Every obstacle in my journey was 100% worth the challenge when I walked through that door.
