Before I left South Dakota in June of 2011 Jean Dorale our Hospice care lady gave me a flyer to have a teddy bear made out of a piece of Momma's clothing.
Shannon and I talked about maybe making a couple out of some pajamas of hers, but we never really got around to it. After a few months of being back in Washington I kept thinking about this possibility of a bear being made out of her clothing. It is one of the coolest things I have heard of in the whole "Grieving" help that we received.
In May I decided it was the month that was going to send in my clothing for the memory bear. I had a light blue pull over sweatshirt made of fleece that I knew would be just perfect.
So, I packaged it up, and said a few prayers that It wouldn't get lost in the mail, and sent the sweater off to Jean.
Just a few weeks ago, this little guy arrived in the mail.
I opened the box and tears just started to flow... What a beautiful creation out of Momma's sweater.
Prairie Lakes Hospice makes these in memory of your loved one, and ask a $25 donation. It is worth every penny of the donation. Momma Bear "Dina" will be in my arms always.
