Day two started out with Shannie and I waking before Sunrise...
We headed down to the Kalaloch Beach, and enjoyed a quiet walk. It was some much needed much enjoyed quiet sister bonding time.
Let me advise... if you ever get a chance at a $99 cabin rental at Kalaloch - Jump on it! They're beautiful inside, and the grounds that the lodge sits on is gorgeous!
After our walk, we rallied the girls, and hit the mercantile for a few nifty giftys before hitting the road to the Hoh National Rainforest.
We drove 5 miles south first to get some gas, then north again to the Hoh.
The road into the Hoh was LONG and windy, and steep!! The 20 mile drive seemed more like 60 miles, and it took us about an hour because the speed limit was so slow and did I mention the crappy roads? No matter, it was totally worth the drive. The first thing the Park Ranger asked was if we wanted a long trail or "Dark and Creepy" and of course our answer was "Dark and Creepy" so he sent us off to the Hall of Mosses, which I think would have been darker and creepier if it wasn't so darn sunny outside!
For a couple of 16 year old girls... they sure enjoyed exploring national parks! I kept telling Shannon how lucky she was that she didn't have to keep them entertained, that they were totally thrilled just to be out in nature. Probably didn't hurt that "nature" looked like the Twlight movies...
She's such a ham.
This was their re-inaction of Twilight... Erica's the vampire, obviously.
We both crawled under and FIT in this tree! Crazy big!
On our drive out of the forest, we stopped a few times to take pictures of the pure dense forest! It's nuts! We also stopped because we saw ELK!
You know, just along side the road, grazing!
Next up... Our tour of Forks... and TWILIGHTNESS!
