For those of you who do not know... the Pacific Northwest is a happy home for Slugs. I hadn't ever seen a slug (ever, ever in my life) before moving out here, and really only in the last year or so have I really experienced them. They like the wet climate, and now I know, they sometimes show up in unexpected places. Case and point, this little guy who showed up near my outside door to my laundry room yesterday morning, and scared the ever living daylights out of me. I'm just glad I didn't accidentally touch him in an attempt to turn on the light!
Like the girl I am, I spent most of the 5 minutes it took me to remove him pacing back and forth between the bedroom and the laundry room trying to get up the guts to do it, or decide on whether or not I should wake Eric up and make HIM deal with it! I ended up grabbing a lid to a Peanut Butter Jar out of our recycling, and then a paint stir stick and scraped him off the wall into the lid. Then I put foil over it! I didn't want to have to try and wrangle him back in if he crawled out! Then, I took him out to the yard and dumped him in the grass.
The whole time I just kept reciting "Ew... EW... Ew... EW".
Slugs are slimy.
And Gross.
I hope they don't decide to make a regular appearance in my laundry room!
