Ragin cRAVIN"

Remember yesterday how I was wondering if GOD was going to open the clouds and speak to me with what to do for cRAVE (Whispering ) i think he heard me :).
As I sat in the fellowship hall I had a few ideas here and there about what I wanted to put up for grabs for the evening. Pastor Ryan had the message covered so all I had to do was come up with a Drama or a Testamony in oh about an hour and a half.
What I decided to do was set up a "Sacred Space" or an Alter if you will, where people can come and place things in the space they would like to pray about or give up to GOD for an hour.
I gave a little talk about the Space and how we used the Space in my college courses and then added to the space (which allready had a picture of Laughing Jesus from the invocation) an apple because the sermon was about Evil. The Apple to me represents when Adam and Eve ate from the tree of Knowledge.
I then put down my cell phone on the table and said I wanted to offer that to GOD to give him an hour with out my cell phone buzzing in my pocket or the temptation to look at it; to give my attention to him and forget about the world for a second.
I walked back to my seat and a flood of kids from the audience put their cell phones, ipod's, keys, hats, jewlery and things that distracted them from GOD on the Sacred Space.
I was flabbergasted! I didn't even expect anyone to move from their chair let alone put their cell phones and i pod's up there! I had even constructed a "backup plan" for when no one did it, I had one of the other Adult leaders put their cell phone there too; and maybe we could try it again next week and see if it takes.
But, as usual the Youth suprised and amazed me and the Sacred Space is now a Sacred Fixture at Tuesday night cRAVE.
Wow. What a great night!
It was exactly what I needed :o)

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
