Rock the VOTE for Leilani!

Hey guys! I wanted to put out a shameless plug for my dear friend (and co-worker) Meg. She has entered her baby in a “cutest baby” contest through a radio station out here. The first prize is 1,500 bucks. It’s more or less an advertising competition since there are so many babies entered! We need your votes! She’s the cutest baby in the contest by far; I’m [not] biased. Take a look for yourself and then follow the steps to vote Leilani F the cutest baby in Seattle!

Go to http://www.kube93.com/
Click on the icon at the top of the page that says “Baby Battle”
Click on the “VOTING PAGE” link
At the bottom of the page click the VOTE button on Group 4
Find for Leilani F and click on the bubble next to her name
Scroll to the bottom of the page and enter in your e-mail address (no junk mail will come of this – trust me I’ve already voted)
And click “Submit”
HERES THE IMPORTANT PART
When you check your e-mail you will have a “verify your vote” e-mail from Kube 93. You must click on the link in that e-mail for your vote to count!

Thank you for helping us win Leilani some College fund … or toy money if you will!

Thanks for the plug :)

Meg
So I know it would be totally great to give her a big "toy fund" if she wins but...
I say put it in a college fund.
She may not like that when she is 2 or 8 or 13 or even 18, but when she is 22 and in po-dunk WY (or maybe somewhere better) trying to make it through college and wondering where she is going to get money for books next semester, then she will be thankful.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
