Is Pimping Easy?

Last night was cRAVE as always on a Tuesday night. The sermon was great, the music was great, and the cop lights outside the windows were… distracting.

Eric and I left to take a few kids home just in time to escape lock down at the church. A few kids were in hysterics and letting their imagination run with them. We then ventured up to McDonalds for a little Ice Cream after cRAVE which is kind of a “thing” for us, McDonalds has the best $1 sundaes. We asked the lady “what’s going on here” as there were 4 cop cars in the parking lot. She told us that a couple guys were trying to pimp prostitutes up and down Pacific Highway and ran when they saw the cops, so the cops were looking for them. Turns out they hid near the church, which was what all the commotion was about. So, as it turns out “Pimpin ain’t easy”.

There really hasn’t been much going on recently, we’ve been enjoying the extra hour of daylight in the evening to take advantage of our view of the sound, and finally took down our Christmas lights last night, even though Eric may still argue that we left them up because they were “winter” lights.

We’ve looked into flights to come home for Heidi’s wedding on September 26th. It’s going to be an amazing journey, complete with stops at 3 airports, and a $800 charge on my debit card; but we couldn’t be more thrilled to be going home to see my best friend marry the man of her dreams (I know I’m cheesy… deal with it). I also want to say that today, I ordered a very special pair of shoes to wear for the wedding dance (and if approved by the bride the ceremony), so you better get excited I know I am! Eric and I will be staying with our good friend Liz! Hooray! and we hope to see the family too! It should be a good trip.

On an exciting note, my cousin Joe and his beautiful bride Heather are expecting their little one any moment. She went into the doctor and the doctor will induce her in the next few days if the baby doesn’t show up before then.

My cousin Angie and her husband Toby are expecting their 2nd little one any day now too. The crazy thing is Angie and Joe (previously mentioned) are brother and sister, so that branch of our family tree is growing!

In another exciting piece of news, my cousin Kris and his bride Tamijo are expecting their first baby in the fall.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
