Egg-citing Egg Dying!

I haven't gotten a chance to do anything "Eastery" this week. I have been super busy and haven't really even visited the Easter aisles at a local store.

Thursday I decided that I really wanted to dye eggs, so Eric hard-boiled the perfect eggs for me so we could dye them today. They are probably the best hard-boiled eggs I've ever had.

We bought a Paas egg dying kit, because, Paas is the best! We had sharpies and crayons to make the designs but didn't get too fancy.

Eric tried a shrinki-dink wrap for the egg that always comes with the kit I had never tried to do one but he wanted to see if we could do it, he ended up getting the wire egg holder stuck on the egg underneath the wrap. It was defying gravity for sure!

It is Aquaman's first Easter so I made sure to decorate an egg with him.

he was pretty interested in what was going on. He's always in the middle of everything so why not let him be in the middle of egg dying?

Aquaman liked the egg very much, after this I had to wash it off.

but before I washed it I had him pose for a few more pictures with it. I had to take Baby's first easter photos!

Then he got sick of me taking pictures and showed me his big eyes and little under bite. Okay so maybe it's his eyes and his BIG under bite!

Here's our finished dyed eggs, there's a lot more of them but here's a few that looked pretty good.

Eric then surprised me with my Easter basket. He hid candy all over the apartment and then gave me a basket to collect it all in. My husband is the best!

After I got everything found, and cleaned up from the eggs I then made supper and for desert and for Easter dinner with Tim and Kat tomorrow I made Glorified Rice.
Glorified Rice really makes me think of Easter when I was a kid because that's when Mom always made it.

I hope you all have a very blessed Easter.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
