A girl after my own ♥

So many of my family members tell me how my niece Erica and I are so a like. They keep saying that "She's the second coming of Abby. - She acts just like you when you were a child."

This was proved to me last night when I got a phone call at 8:46 at night. It was Erica, She was still up (10:46 her time)! She was busy writing me a letter as we've been corresponding via snail mail and it's the greatest thing in the world!

And she says "Hey Auntie Abby - It's Erica. When are you going to the comic book convention?" and my heart skipped a beat! "On Saturday Erica, why do you ask?"
"I am working on writing you a letter, and would like to send you money to buy me some comic books when you're there. Do you think you'd get it by Saturday"
My heart burst with joy! My mini - me WANTS TO READ COMIC BOOKS!!!!!
My response was "NO, Don't send me money - What is it that you want - Uncle Eric and I are more than happy to pick up comic books for you."

She continued to tell me how much she loves Twilight and how her mommy just bought her an Edward Cullen poster to hang above her bed... Sigh!
It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside hearing from Erica and knowing how much she looks up to me. I look up to her, She helps me keep my child like views on life. I miss her...

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!
