Monday Madness!

Happy Monday!I love it when I return from a weekend all recharged and ready to go! Eric and I got plenty of rest and relaxation this weekend but also kept pretty busy.

On Friday we went out to eat in Federal Way and then ran some errands. We also spent a good amount of time in Borders flipping through books and things but didn’t end up bringing anything home with us; which is good because after the Comic-Con I don’t think we have much room left on our book shelves.

Saturday we slept in and it felt really good! We went up to the University District (U district) to visit with our friend Walter and his girlfriend Jess. We hung out with Walter at their place for a while, then Jess came home and we all went out to eat at Delfino’s pizza. Delfino’s serves a pretty good version of Chicago Style pizza. Eric’s tummy was happy – Chicago style pizza is his favorite! It was just really great to hang out with some good friends.

Sunday we didn’t quite make it to church, but we did get up at a decent time and ran to the grocery store to get some goodies to make Turkey Kofte. I realized how much I hate the grocery store. I cleaned the bathroom when we got home, and created a fence around the litter box because Aquaman’s new favorite game is “Treasure hunt” out of the litter box. Yuck, I know! Then we had a nice quiet night hanging out on the couch watching a few TV shows.

I hope your weekend was great as well!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
