Twirling

When I was a little girl I loved nothing more than to twirl in any and all skirts that I had. Often Mom would have to tell me to stop because I was going so hard that you could see my underwear! After I moved out here it was about 6 months before I was able to afford a shopping trip of any sort. When I finally could afford it, I went to JC Penny's I fell in love with this black skirt and wanted it more than anything I had in my hands. I put everything back and paid $54 dollars for my Black skirt that I just knew I would be able to twirl in. I've worn this skirt out, I've sewed and resewed the seams on it. It's been worn for work, for play and for Halloween. At work today I noticed that I had a hole in the back of my beloved skirt that was about as big as a 50 cent piece. Julie helped sew it up after multiple people had saw my orange underwear and no one said anything about it! Though Mindy says she was trying to figure out a non-embarrassing way to let me know; and I appreciate that. Any ways, after today It's time for the skirt to retire. I will be putting it in my Halloween box to come out once a year because throwing it away is not an option and it makes the very best witch skirt ever! For now, Good bye to my favorite skirt's every week status in my life. I'm very sad. Eric helped me take an "artsy" photo to commemorate the skirt in all of it's glory.
Let's have a moment of silence now...

Thank you.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
