More Sad News...

Last night Eric and I ordered from our favorite little Greek shack named Spyros Gyros. We were excited as we haven't eaten Spyro's for a couple weeks. Eric made the phone call for pick up, and he acted a little weird. He said "Either they have a new person or Ristka has slowed down her speech". When we arrived at Spyros to pick up our food, there was no Ristka... No George... what?!

The Sokuls Family Left Sypros Gyros... SAAADDD!
Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit of a drama queen but this really does effect our life in a sad way.

George has been cooking yummy Spyros food for us for 14 years (me, 3). It is the best greek food I've ever tasted!

They sold the restaurant to some Church friends of theirs, they're going to retire and vacation in Greece.

Spyros will never be the same... Here's to George and Ristka... Thank you for years of amazing food and the friendly face when we walk in the door.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
