Friday is Here! Hooray!

I haven’t been really good at writing much on here recently. I guess administering 3 blogs, having friends over and Relay has been busier than I thought. There has been plenty going on and plenty to blog about recently though.

This week proved to be busier than expected and I’m about 24 hours away from Relay and still have not gotten everything done I wanted to. I still need to run to the dollar store to get things for “lap themes” and to the grocery store for water and snacks and get things put together around home, like finding our tent! I guess I will be a busy girl tomorrow morning and I’m starting to curb my “type A” personality in trying to reassure myself that if I don’t get it perfect this year I’m not going to melt into a puddle like the wicked witch of the west. Letting things get a little bit out of control from time to time might be a good thing.

On Tuesday evening Walter and Jess came over and we spent the night eating Turkey Kofte, drinking wine and beer and visiting on our back porch. It was so great to hang with them since we don’t get each other’s way very often – they live clear up in the U district and Jess works weekends, so if often proves difficult to find a night that works for all of us. After this week we all kind of thought we need to make it work.

Wednesday evening I went out gallivanting with Katherine! It had been well over a month since we had hung out and it was so great to catch up. We shopped South center’s finest stores, Joann’s, Bed Bath & Beyond , ate at The Spaghetti Factory and then over to Layne Bryant & Payless and then stopped at Sketchy Safeway on the way home. It was good reminiscing and sharing stories from the past few weeks.

Last night I could have went to bed at 7pm but Eric and I had a nice quiet night at home and he had picked up our Relay shirts so I had some fun blogging and taking pictures of our new shirts. My hubby is so wonderful J

Tonight we’re meeting up with Ivan and Dawn for a movie and dinner and then tomorrow we’re off to Relay! I’m so Excited to get my laps in around the track! It should prove to be a good time!

I’m really looking forward to next week as well as I get to go on a play date with a new friend and spend more time with Eric and hopefully get a shirt order in for those who’ve requested.

I wish you all a very great weekend. Please keep John, Kerri, Katherine, Eric and myself in your prayers as we brave the elements of Relay.
Love, Abby

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
