Black Berry Dreams

If you've been following this Blog at all you know that we've been picking a LOT of Blackberries. A LOT.

We kind of got to a point where we either had to make something with them or Eric was going to get sick of eating them raw & as ice cream topping.

It's just so much fun to pick them, that I can't help myself so we went for the first option - Make something with them!

I went over to Tim & Kat's yesterday and picked about 5 cups and then came home to pick another couple cups for good measure.

Eric had been googling pie recipies all week, and so that's what we started with.

a "fresh" pie crust, some flour, sugar and 4 cups of black berries later, this is what the goo looked like.

I can almost smell the oven when I look at this picture.

And our finished product.
We were pretty proud because neither of us have really made a pie before with out the help of our wonderful Mommies.

Eric then went on to make an entire jar of blackberry preserves and a half of ziploc bag of blackberry syrup.
and guess what? We're going picking again tonight to put some in the freezer.
I only wish I ate blackberries.
In Other news, Our Cat and Dog decided to be cute today :). Happy Monday Everyone!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
