The Woes of Metro

I normally don’t use this blog to bitch about things, but I’m currently sitting on the bus and if I don’t vent just a little bit, the lady one row back and across from me is going to get my fist in her mouth.

Let me explain, I’m generally a non-violent person and wouldn’t [under normal circumstances] consider punching this woman but this lady is driving us all crazy. By ‘us’ I mean the early morning commuters. Every morning we march out to the bus stops blurry eyed and wait for the bus. Once we get on, we find the most comfortable seat possible and snuggle in to nap for the next [in my case] 45 minutes; because, who wouldn’t want to nap for another 45 minutes in the morning? The atmosphere on the bus is understood that everyone is always quiet as a mouse and even if you ruffle to get more comfortable you may get a dirty look or two from the people in your vicinity. It’s that quiet on the bus as it should be, it’s 6 AM!

This morning the lady in the red jacket got on the bus as she does most mornings and squeals with excitement when the new ORCA reader recognizes her card and lets her pay her fair – don’t get me wrong, I was pretty excited about this card too when I first got it, two months ago- and I know Red has had hers for a month or so. Then she sits in her seat pulls out her very loud bag of Candy (who eats peanut M&M’s at 6:00 am any ways?) and calls her friend whom she hasn’t talked to in ‘forever’ and decides to talk as if she’s addressing the whole bus. Really? You couldn’t wait for your ride home to talk to this person at this volume? You hadn’t talked to her in ‘forever’ what’s 9 more hours? I have no problem when people talk on their cell phones quietly in the morning, or even loudly in the afternoon, sometimes it’s even entertaining. But at 6 in the morning at a volume you’d speak to a half deaf person?

Red’s gunna get it.

While we’re on Metro Pet peeves I would also like to give the ‘coca-cola’ award to the guy behind me who lets out a loud “aaaahhhhhhh” after every drink of his beverage. Really?

Thanks for letting me vent…
And HAPPY FRIDAY!
♥ from the bus… Abby

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
