Macy's Holiday Parade

Every year going to work the day after thanksgiving I run into people setting up chairs for the parade. I never thought I would ever be one of those people but something in me made me want to go this year. Maybe it's because I had the day off work, or maybe it's just because it's a new experience.
Katherine was nice enough to go with me, and she was even pretty excited for it too! We went downtown at 6am or so, and got some Starbucks breakfast and coffee and then went and sat on the curb on 4th ave waiting for the parade to start.
the Parade started promptly at 9:15 and we were able to catch the 11:20 bus home.
It was such a long morning. I really enjoyed every second. It was so full of Christmas joy and fun marching bands. There's really not much to write about it because it was such a typical parade, but it was so huge and so long!
After the parade we went into Macy's and dropped off our letters to Santa, Macy's donates a dollar for every letter to the Make a wish foundation, a foundation I fully support, they're wonderful. We then stood in line for about 20 minutes for the restroom and then hightailed it to the bus to get home. Kat fell asleep on the way home but I took in every inch of the city and relished on the fact that I got to go to the parade!!!
I am so excited Christmas season is here! There are a TON more pictures which I posted HERE. But the few that are on this blog are a few of my favorites.
The Gingerbread man.... Who got to close.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
