Two Am... Two Flat Tires

Eric is a trivia nut. He's really good at it and for the past 3 months or so he's been doing trivia night at the Ram on Wednesday nights with some friends. Tonight is the first night ever that I was able to join the gang for trivia so we went down and had a nice supper at the ram, drank some beer (not a lot, one glass), and lost (miserably) at trivia we went out to our car to go home. It was late, rainy, I was tired, and we were in a hurry to get to our turkey in preparation for tomorrow. We turned the corner and hit a curb, hard. We drove another 25 feet and realized our tire was for sure flat, so we pulled into a parking lot on the side of the Ram and I immediatly called Tim so they didn't leave in case we needed help (they were at trivia too). We got out of the car and realized that we not only popped one tire, but both of the tires on the pasenger side. So as the rain continued to fall on us, and one frantic voicemail later, Eric was on the phone to Geico, Tim and I were in the parking lot changing the rear tire and Kat was napping in her car (she was very tired). Once we got the tire changed, Tim took Kat home and went to get the Cavalier for us to borrow while our car is out of commission. Geico called us a tow truck, and told us it would be 40 minutes and that we should keep an eye out for the truck. We stood out in the rain and laughed off the flats, and talked about scenarios of how this happened. The truck finally came 40 minutes later as promised, Eric drove the car up on the flatbed and Tim came with the Cavalier shortly after our car was safely on the Tow Truck. We lead the truck back to our house, I took Tim home and our car was unloaded infront of our neighbor's house. Left our neighbors a note and now I'm on the couch blogging and Eric is busy washing his turkey for supper tomorrow.

The car is nothing more than a couple flat tires; which we needed to buy at some point this winter any how. I think you learn a lot about your marriage in situations like this. We kept eachother calm, whatever I didn't think of Eric did and vice versa. We were soaking wet, standing in the middle of a deserted parking lot, keeping eachother laughing.

It was a grace under fire situation. I am even more thankful (if that's possible) for Tim and Kat ever, they're such great friends in every situation, but especially in clutch situations like this.

I'm going to bed now, I'm wet, cold and have been awake for 22 hours or so.

Thank you God... for everything you bless us with, and all the challenges we have, the situations we learn from and the things we can learn to laugh about.

Happy (Early) Thanksgiving

PS: both of these pictures are of the front tire, the back tire isn't quite as bad, but it got replaced with the spare so I didn't get a picture of it before we took it off. You get the point though.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
