Feeling the Fa... waiting for the La

Last night was our holiday party for work. We went downtown to the Hotel Andra and drank cocktails and ate some amazing food prepared by the Tom Douglas Catoring company, for thoes of you who don't know Tom, he's a big wig chef here in Seattle and his food is a-maz-ing.
I actually completley Failed at taking any pictures last night, so you'll have to wait till my co-worker who did take all the pictures gets back from her Christmas vacation to see just how swanky this hotel was, and how wonderful my dress was! It was one of thoes surreal moments as we were crossing 5th avenue dressed to the 9's looking down the street at the lit up Space Needle that made me realize... wow... I really love living in Seattle. I have really great co-workers, so the night was fantastic, and it was hard to leave even though I was way past my bed time and quickly turning into a pumpkin.
Today Laurel came over and we had lunch and then we finished up my Christmas shopping. It was so good to see Laurel, and she asked me to take pictures of her and her boyfriend Jon, which means would be my first official Photography gig... YAY!
Now to bake some cookies, make some hot chocolate and watch Christmas Movies with my family... that helps with the la la la la's....
Love, Abby

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
