Finding the right FIT...

We FINALLY put our minds at ease this weekend and went car shopping!
I have never driven a car that hadn't had at least three previous owners, and 100,000 miles, and Eric has only had two previous cars in his life time, so we were excited to get behind the wheel of something we've never driven before.
We have done a LOT of research over the past few weeks, and have narrowed our decisions down to Toyota & Honda. Both of which have wonderful lives, and will last past 10 years and 120K miles. (we hope).
I should preface this post with the fact that Eric and I grew up in two totally different places. I grew up in a small town and it was not abnormal to go to a dealership after hours and drive around looking at what they had on the lot. Eric grew up out here where you can't drive into the lot without someone coming right up to you to see why you're there.
The moment we pulled into Burien Toyota, Zoran walked up to us, introduced himself and asked "how can I help". We then walked over to the "New" side of the lot and looked at both the Matrix and Corolla. After taking down drivers license information we were out of the lot with a 2010 Matrix and a salesman in the front seat with a very heavy accent.

Here's what the Matrix looks like, inside and out... We were happy with the ride, the features, but it is a little pricier than we were hoping to find.
With that, we moved onto the Corolla which is something my Grandmother would love... I wasn't so fond of it, I felt like it aged us about 20 years. Great family car... don't get me wrong. It just wasn't a good FIT. Oh and the interior looked much like the Matrix's.

The positive side of the Corolla is that they had "used" one's for a much more reasonable price with about 2,000 miles on them. Not bad. But ultimately we didn't fall in love.
I really wanted to test drive a Prius, because... well why not? I have heard amazing things about this car, and I'm sure the Jetson's would be proud of the innovative technology it uses. Zoran came out of the building with the keys and the doors unlocked, Eric got in the drivers seat and pressed the Power button to start the car. We took it for a cruise, and since it's a Hybrid it would technically shut the gas off at the stop lights and switch to electric which made the car seem like it shut off altogether, not sure that would be easy to get used to.
Zoran wasn't a pushy salesman, but was definitely a salesman. Eric made a joke as we were test driving the Matrix and he totally dismissed whatever it was Eric said, and kept selling us on the Matrix. He was pretty low sales pressure, but you could tell he was anxious for us to bite on one of the Toyota's.
We left Burien Toyota with a handshake and our heads filled with information, but not blown away by anything we saw. We came home and made a pro / con list of each car, and I'll spare you that information, but if you want to know you could message me, we'd be happy to share our views.
Since I was determine to hit at least two dealerships this weekend, Eric and I decided to try our luck at the Honda Dealership.
Our friend Amanda drives a Honda Fit, so Eric wanted to try one out since it's in our price range, and it's a good (safe ... for you Mom) little car....
So this afternoon we headed to Burien Honda where we met our salesman Carl. We walked onto the lot and Carl asked us what we wanted to drive. We said the fit, which he had a whole row for us to choose from. We grabbed the white one, and were off the lot with it with Carl in the back seat with in 3 minutes of walking on the lot.
He was completely laid back and wasn't pressuring us into anything, when Eric asked him to tell us about the fit he didn't give us a pitch, but gave us a bunch of facts and ended it with "a lot of people like this car, some don't". We like Carl, and we LOVE the Fit.

Here's the exterior and the interior of the Fit, and it's a pretty cute little car. Eric really REALLY likes it, and we had a lot of fun test driving it. The seats in the back not only fold down for cargo, but fold up for taller cargo. I was REALLY impressed by the versatility of it. We're pretty sure it's a perfect FIT, and yes... pun completely intended.... We're not sure what color, or exactly how we'll end up financing it, but it's in our price range, and we can't wait to take a fit home. At least that's how we feel today, we're ready to sleep on it, for a while....

But this is probably the color we'll get...
We decided the Fit is GO!
What a great means to the end.
Feeling pretty good about it.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
