Smiles...


Here's a little something that made me smile today. As random as it may be, I have this picture in a frame on my desk at work. I really like this picture, and it reminds me of the day it was taken.
Like normal, Aunt Brenda (Far right) had something up her sleeve, and drug us all our of bed to go on a hike, little did I know, I would end up looking Crazy Horse in the face that day. I remember walking up that mountian bitching and moaning the entire way, and Brenda being so happy that she had gotten me out of bed. I was in awe once we got face to face with Crazy Horse but the hike was less than desireable for a tired, 20yr old Abby. I think this hike was a benefit of sorts, but I don't really recall what it was for.
This was 5 years ago allready. The back of the picture says September, but I think it was actually August.
My Aunt Kathy, Mom & Aunt Brenda are all coming out here to visit me this year, and again we'll be doing a lot of walking, but this time it's for Relay. I'm so blessed to have these three women in my life as role modles; I love them all so much!
Can't wait for the giggling weekend in June ladies!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name.
