Goodbye Facebook - Hello FlyLady.net

Today is Fat Tuesday - which means tomorrow is the beginning of Lent.
* Sigh *
Lent is my favorite church season.
I love that Lent brings me back to what being a Christian is all about. Lent makes me challenge myself and helps me become a brighter better person.
Every year for Lent I try to give up at least one major vice in my life. Last year I successfully gave up Facebook for the entire 40 days, but have since fallen back into obsessively checking Facebook for someone might post a new status - pictures - get engaged - break up and how would I ever know without Facebook? Where were we before the time suck that is Facebook? I know that last year giving up Facebook allowed me more time which I normally spent watching Tv, Walking the dog, loving my husband or organizing random things.
So this year... I again will be giving up Facebook - In an attempt to read more of my bible, and again get my house into shape which has been a dream of Eric and I's since I moved in. I found a website thanks to Ms. Sprouffske called FlyLady.net which is all about buiding a better you and being more effeciant in your life, world and home. I intend to replace one with the other, goodbye Facebook - Hello orgaznising my home with the help of FlyLady.
Also, I'd like to take a moment of silence for the second thing I will be giving up for lent...
Coffee....
Okay I heard your gasp... Abby is giving up Coffee for 40 days? Yes, It's true, and it's a travisty- but you sacrifice things you love, and things that suck your time away from God... So here I am... as of tomorrow Facebookless and coffeeless.... Please pardon me if I'm a bit edgy the next couple of days.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

 8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
