Slice of Life : The I miss my Mom edition

I think Slice of Life is going to become a weekly ritual for me, It’s a good way to give a little snippet and trick myself in to the fact that I’m not writing a WHOLE POST!

So, to Jumpstart the week with my bloggy goodness... A slice of life...

Outside my window... The busy city is in it's daily bustle ... traffic jams... and a little sunshine (this will frequently be the same – as I normally post during break time at work.)
I am thinking... That I’m kind of in the mood for spring cleaning, Lord please help my husband.
I am thankful for... My Mom, who keeps me smiling all day via text.
From the kitchen... awaits some leftover lamb cubes with a pita and some ketchup! Eric rocked a boneless lamb leg last night; he’s becoming such a wonderful cook!
I am wearing... brown work slacks, and a white shirt with teal circles all over it with my teal heels… Teal is my new favorite color for some reason.
I am going... to Vegas in 30 days!!!!!
I am hoping... that I have energy to endure working out this evening.
I am hearing... my own typing… it’s actually kind of quiet here today.

Around the house... Glad that the dog and cat aren’t getting along I was starting to think our house was too quiet. (insert sarcastic grin here)
I am Wondering... How this weekend could have been any more fantastic - I ♥ ECCC.
A few plans for the rest of the week: An appointment with the oral surgeon on Tuesday, Call Committee Meeting on Wednesday and Sr. High bus lock-in for the weekend!

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
How wonderful is having a Mother?

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
