Something New : The King County Library Edition

I saw this sign in the Las Vegas airport and it kind of made me laugh. I immediately took a picture of it and texted it to my friend Katherine bcause she truly does believe libraries are amazing and I thought she would find it funny too! That being said, I haven't been to a library since college - Heidi and I actually spent a LOT of time in the library at college but I can't say we borrowed a lot of books, we mostly just giggled in the Internet cafe and tried to do our homework which we usually failed at and then went to our respective rooms to get something done.

I realized a couple weeks ago how much money Eric and I spend in Borders or Barnes and Nobel on books that we're interested in reading. It's just silly. The King Country Library circuit is actually pretty amazing. You can put any book on hold that the library owns and they will send it to your local library for you to pick up. So If the Des Moines library doesn't have it - some other library may and they send it over to Des Moines for you to pick up. We have been meaning to make it to the library for the past week and haven't been successful- and as we were coming home from breakfast with Ivan and Dawn at Calamity Janes we just swung in the drive to check it out.

I still don't have my library card because I ordered it online but Eric still has his and it still works - and he hasn't used it hardly at all. But we checked out a couple books and were on our way, I'm looking forward to using the facility's more often.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
