2 Year Bloggerversary

Today marks Year #2 that I have been writing This blog.

My First Post Ever was a little rough, I didn't really know what I wanted to do with a Blog, or even if I would keep it going, but I wanted to give it a valiant effort, yet, here I am 2 years later, 509 posts later still going strong, and love everything I give to this blog, and everything it gives back to me. My first bloggerversary was cause for a mini post and a mini celebration, but this one feels more monumental.

Formerly known as Seattle 101, then Seattleites, and now R for Ronnebeck attracts an average of 21 people a day. It has been viewed in 34 of the 50 United States of America - see ? Google can track EVERYONE!

I wanted this blog to be a place where our family could come and check out what we're up to. It's become so much more for me. It's a place to share my frustrations, things that make me smile and my faith. It's a place where I can be share my bus stories, my coffee victories, and yet still brag about my pets.

I try to make this place a positive place to visit, a place where you might find a little ray of sunshine via the world wide web. My boss shared a quote with me today from Shackleton's Way that really drove it home for me, "Optimism is true moral courage."

So thank you, to my readers for coming here, even if it's for a mini celebration over Aquaman's latest stuffed animal war, or for a bit of inspiration when I pull it out of the cracks.

Leave me a comment for my bloggerversary gift... what do you like about "R is for Ronnebeck?".

All the love,
Abby

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
