Dear Dracula

Despite the gross amount of Halloween that has been exploding in my house, and all over my desk at work, I haven't gotten into the "Halloween Spirit" this year as much as I have in the past. I'm not sure what to blame it on, I guess I am just kind of in a funk. It will come, in due time. Halloween is NEXT WEEK! The week of I'm always singing a different tune no matter what my feelings are during the month of October.
Maybe that's why my Halloween blog disappeared off the Internet, it was my lack of spirit... Drat!
Any ways, last night, I had Eric read a book with me before I went to bed – because I’m a 4 year old and sometimes like a story before I go to sleep. Last night we read “Dear Dracula” which is a story about a little boy named Sam who loves horror movies, and decides he wants to write Dracula to turn him into a Vampire. Dracula shows up on his doorstep on Halloween night and shows him “How cool” it is to be a Vampire, and in the end Sam decides if he has to drink blood instead of eating Cheese, he just couldn't’t be a vampire, I mean who could give up Cheese? It’s a really cute book, and I totally bought it before I read it, and loved it!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

 8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!
