Snowy Seattle

I was all smiles as the snow was falling on a bustling Seattle city. I love snow, so much, but I'm starting to rethink our relationship as snow shuts down Seattle and for some reason makes people stupid. But then again maybe I'm the stupid one as this lady uses her umbrella to keep the snow off her, I'm practically rolling in it! All in preference I guess.
Speaking with my friends from the North, it sounds like my two hour commute home last night was a breeze. Tacy & Crew didn't get home till 7:30 (we get off at 4) and Megan who only lives in Ravenna got home at 7. Mindy didn't make it home at all - Told you the 6th ave inn was a cozy deal, huh Min?
I layered on the clothes like a good South Dakota girl knows how to do, and headed out into the snow this morning scoffing at those folk who "obviously don't know how to handle the snow". I quickly learned that two of our three major roads out of Des Moines were blocked off courtesy of the Des Moines Police via riding on the 121 till the roadblock at which point I got off the bus and walked to the nearest stop to catch the 122. The 122 then jack knifed with me and one other person on it when I decided this was stupid. I'm going home. I love my job, I really do wish I could be there to help out, but risking my life in Metro's hands just isnt' worth it.
So, tomorrow, I will wake at 4 am again, and head out into the cold to try to get to work, until then, I'm going back to bed.
Yay for snow?

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
