Lagging Behind...

I feel like I've fallen off the blog bandwagon. I have tried to blog, but feel a little unmotivated, even lethargic about it.

I can't think of anything to write... though I haven't had an issue writing my "To Do" list in 20 different ways to make sure I don't forget a thing. Sometimes I wonder how I keep myself so organized when I spend time organizing and reorganizing lists.

I digress. I am trying to get ready for Laurel and Jon's wedding, which is Thursday night. It's my first wedding as a photographer, and I won't lie... I'm a little nervous about it. Okay, I'm a lot nervous about it. I know I will get shots, I just hope I can produce shots that are as magical as the bride wants them to be. I am a total amateur, but as the tag on my tea bag said today
"Every artist was first an amateur" - Ralph Waldo Emerson
I needed to hear that today. Thanks Good Earth Tea!

I leave for South Dakota on Friday... FRIDAY!!!
I couldn't be more excited to see my Mom, my sisters Shannon and Julie, my niece Erica, the boys, Carter, Troy and Kyle, and yes, even my stinky Big brother Tony.
I will be spending a lot of time with my Mom which is so needed.
I do get to attend the Nielsen Family Christmas for the first time in five years, and Grandma Myla is hosting a Kneeland family gathering so I will get a chance to see my aunts, uncles, cousins and Dad.
It will be a blessed trip... That is, If I don't get stuck in Minneapolis airport with a blizzard.
I'll miss this little guy though...
and his dad.
Oh Seattle, you are home too.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
