What a Crazy Weekend!

On Friday night we went to Ivan and Dawn's house! It was so much fun to stuff ourselves with amazing cooking, friendship and dessert!
We caught up and agreed that It had been TOO long since we had hung out.
I managed to talk Dawn into going skating with me sometime, so hopefully we'll be able to make that happen!

On our way up there, we stopped by Fast Girl Skates in Wallingford and got me some skating pads so I don't hurt myself skating! It was a much needed purchase.

On Saturday I spent the morning with my dear friend Mariya. She lives up in Everett so we try to get together at least once a month. We had a blast thrifting our morning away and catching up. I was also excited to hear more about her new home, and baby! I found a new dress at Goodwill for $6.00 and I was super excited! I can't wait to model it here!

In the afternoon Megan came down from her abode and we made our way to Olympia with Eric to see the Oly Rollers.
Brace yourself for some Derby pictures. Oly was a WHOLE NEW experience for me. We sat along the bumpers and felt the vibrations of the skates move around us...

I fell in love, again.
Dressed in my Derby Best... I was watching every foot movement, every block, ever skater... it was amazing.

 The Cosa Nostra Oly Rollers
The Texecutioners of the Texas Roller Girls!

Megan is a great derby buddy - we've been to 3 bouts together, I think I almost have her talked into skating with me :)

This is the reason I wanted to see the Texecutioners - Babe Ruthless
That being said... I found my new favorite skater of our Oly Rollers....
Rettig to Rumble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She stopped by and talked to us at half time, and I hope to see her around SouthGate Roller Rink!
I also started my derby collection - Patches. I will have the best gear bag ever!

After derby we went to a pizzaria downtown and then we headed home. It was a long and wonderful night!

This morning I woke up and went to the Green Festival with Katherine - we took the light rail into the city and then we walked around for a couple hours. It was so fun to taste all the different fair trade and organic chocolate, sip on tea and collect swag. I walked out with enough soy products to last me awhile. Oh Seattle, you crack me up.

Now I'm sitting on the couch, and completely tired, it was a busy, wonderful weekend.

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
