Good Intentions...

Do they really pave the road to hell?

God I hope not! I really did have great intentions to have a productive weekend around the house since it was going to be just me and the animals, but things came up, life happened and here I sit on Sunday evening trying to keep my attitude on the upside as I face my alarm at 4:30 tomorrow morning which seems like way too soon.

I made an entire list that I wanted to conquer, and on that list of say 30 different things, I accomplished one, Friday night, I organized half of my crafty bits. I still need to hit the scrapbook supplies, but that's a whole other beast.

Saturday morning I headed off to work and my co-worker Megan and I suited up with our Derby gear toward the end of the work time and  skated into Eric's office. It was fun stuff. Lots of good pictures to come!

After work on Saturday I drove out to Auburn to meet up with my Uncle Gene. Gene has lived in Yuma Arizona for as long as I can remember, actually for as long as I have been alive. He has taken up a new work position in Auburn and so now I have a new neighbor - kind of. We went to Ikea and got him a couch, some pillows and a bed. They should be arriving at his house about now actually. We grabbed a bite to eat after shopping and then I came home. I am excited to have him close by, it will give me a good opportunity to get to know him!

After hanging out with Gene I picked Eric up at the light rail and we had a few moments to spend together and then I went to bed!

I went to Derby practice this morning, and dropped my dress off at the dry cleaners and now here I am, not moving let alone working on that 30 plus job item list I anticipating having energy for this weekend.

Oh well, there's always next weekend!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
