A Weekend of Pictures

Friday night we went and had dinner with Tim and Kat and played a rousing round of Bloody Marbles which is now our favorite game to play together. Tim and Eric are generally pretty vicious and Katherine and I try not to play too bloody, but Friday Katherine came out of the woodwork and sent me back home just as I was approaching victory... I'll get them all next time :)
This is kind of a traditional Nielsen family game, and I'm glad to be able to share it with my Pacific Northwest Family!

I always rock the blue marbles because the blue ones are my favorite :)

We went home and got to bed early because Saturday was Derby practice...
Here I am gearing up - just about ready to hit the rink. I was on the rink for exactly 45 minutes when I fell wrong and hyper-extended my right knee. Guess who's going to the Doctor tomorrow? And guess who did this all weekend?
SUCK.
But this one helped me heal... Kind of, mostly he just wanted to snuggle on the fleece blanket.
Then Kat came to get me out of the house. We went to JC Penny where I rocked the crutch look, and where Kat rocked the Chicken Look.
Have I mentioned how much I love her? Hahaha Oh Kat.
That's my Owl face... don't ask.
And now, here's my view and seat. Seriously so bummed about this.

That was my weekend, and the only silver lining of this cloud is that thanks to xfinity I got all of season 4 of True Blood watched - hurrah!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
