The Colors Speak for Themselves...

Wow did we have a busy day TODAY!

We started with Breakfast at the Cafe on the Ave and then walked around the University of Washington's campus (see above breath taking photos).

We then drove over to Wallingford and enjoyed a Trophy cupcake, and some shopping. Then we went up the street to the Sock Monster - which is every sock fiend's dream!
Then we went to Archie McPhee's.
There's really no way to describe what Archie's is, you just have to trust that it is the weirdest store you will ever step foot in.

So... Here it is, Liz outside of Archie's with the weirdest thing we could possibly find to take a picture with - a two headed baby doll.

Then we headed to Ballard, and got some local coffee and I picked up a Cupcake Royale cupcake for Eric.
Then we hit up Fremont to visit this big guy - which is possibly my favorite thing in the city - the Fremont Troll. He's such an ugly guy, but you can't help but to love him!
Then we hit Kerry park, because by that time we had determine that it was our mission to see the city from every vantage point possible. We drove down town, through the city, by the stadium's, by the Union station and by the international district. Then we dropped these two kids off down town so they can drink wine and play boardgames, and Kat and I went home. I'm tired - this city can wear you out in a weekend!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
