The things he does for me...

Last night Eric and I stopped at Safeway on our way home from SouthCenter. We needed a few items, and wanted to get in and out swiftly. Safeway generally isn’t the most pleasant experience past about 7pm or so. We were in line checking out, when a lady behind us walked up with her arms full of pint ice cream. It dawned on me that I had failed to look for the Ben and Jerry’s “Schweddy Balls” ice cream; which is based on a Saturday Night Life sketch that we love to laugh at. The Rum ice cream and malt ball treat is intangible, and we want to get our hands on a pint, just to taste the hilarity. So I dash out of line and head to the freezer section, looking at the ice cream. Alas, I did not find my Schweddy Balls, but I the following conversation ensued after I walked away – Just imagine my very sweet hubby talking to a 65 + year old cashier, and a very ragged 40 yr old lady customer behind him to chime in – it will make you giggle.

Checker: “What was she going to look for?”
Eric: (not wanting to say Schweddy Balls) “Oh just an Ice Cream.”
Checker: “What kind of ice cream?”
Eric: “Ben and Jerrys”
Checker: “What flavor”
Eric: (not wanting to say Schweddy Balls) “Oh, well, have you ever seen a Saturday night life sketch with Alec Baldwin called Schweddy balls? It’s an ice cream named after that”
Customer: “Yeah Alec Baldwin is hilarious in that”.

I just about died of laughter when Eric revisited the conversation for me, I feel bad I left him there to explain my NEED for Schweddy Balls. The things he does for me…

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!
