The Hunting Dog.

My brother just kind of chuckles at me and my fluffy little dog.
We grew up with the worlds best Black Lab - Sam. She was a dedicated hunter second, a family dog first. She was amazing at both things. When Tony moved out of the house he bought Kohl (his current dog), he trained her to be an even better hunting dog then Sam. Black lab's run in my family, and when Eric and I started talking about dogs early in our relationship my answer was obvious - I want a black lab. Unfortunately for me, I live in a city and large dogs and apartments don't really jive. So, we went with Eric's favorite - a Shih Tzu. I totally fell head over heels for my little fluff ball, and my brother often jokes about my "half a dog". I thought of Tony today when Eric and Aquaman came home from the pet store with Aquaman's new toy. Why it's a South Dakota Ring-Necked Pheasant! I think he mostly loves the fact that it makes a really obnoxious sound, but I thought it was pretty perfect for my little guy to have a Pheasant!
So, Uncle Tony be proud, this may be the only pheasant my dog will ever "hunt" - but he looks damn cute doing it!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
