Houston Day 2

We only spent 1 night in Houston, but since we stuck around the next morning to get a personal tour of Reliant Stadium from Eric's friend Mohnie it felt like longer. Mohnie is the director of Operations and Maintenance for Reliant Stadium. He is basically in charge of the upkeep of the place. We absolutely could NOT turn down an offer for a private tour!

We showed up in the morning, after checking out of our hotel, and he took us through the home team tunnel (The Texans) and onto the field.

It was a pretty cool feeling to walk out of that tunnel. It is definetly not a view you get to see very often! Mohnie was more than happy to walk us around the entire stadium - we even got to see the deadman switch where they operate the opening and closing of the roof! Pretty rad.

There wasn't any field to speak of - it was out sunning itself to get nice and healthy for the season. They were working on setting up for a circus.
Here's the back area of the Texans, the doors lead to their locker room!
The patch of grass you see is the actual field, they'll cut it up into 8ft x 8ft pieces and haul it in and put it back together when football season starts and the background is the world famous Astrodome.
Mohnie took us for a ride in the golf cart to show us the entire property. And gave Eric a very special treat...
An insider view of the Astrodome - which hasn't seen outside eyes since they closed it up. It's pretty musty... but still feels very magic.

We were thrilled to be able to see inside - it is the 8th wonder of the world after all!
Thanks Mohnie for an awesome tour - maybe we'll be back some day to see the rodeo !
On our way out of town we stopped by Whataburger which is a huge chain in TX for a quick lunch. It was pretty delish. Nothing to amazing, but a good fast food burger joint. I can see the appeal and love for it. Both times we ate there the place was pretty much full.

We got back to Killeen in time to go out to dinner at the Texas roadhouse with Laurel. We ate steak - and it was amazing! After that, we went to Walmart and secured some amazing Blue Bell Ice Cream which is Eric's new love of his life.

We spent the evening just relaxing. The next morning we woke up and hung out around the house and did laundry, I even studied a little bit. Then we headed off to Round Rock to see another ballpark, but that's for the next post!

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
