I have to say, I didn't have much vested in this election, and I'll stay off my soap box because, this isn't really a place to discuss politics or force my views on you, but it's such a huge part of our lives, I thought I'd touch a little on it.
One major "issue" that Washington state voted on this year was gay marriage. Having grown up in a state where an open gay person was a little bit of an anomaly I wasn't sure how to approach this vote, and every single news story was centered around this, and the "for" guys were so well put together and funded. Then I bumped into this organization, the People of Faith who approve 74 (gay marriage referendum). And, really, I guess I more feel like it's a civil rights issue, and not really a political issue, what "bad" does it do me if gay people want to get married? That's their issue / want / lifestyle. I am happy to be supportive of basic human rights.
And though I didn't watch most of the race... I was relieved to see this man as our 44th president when I woke up this morning. Mittens (Mitt Romney) just didn't do it for me. Thank you Mr. President for a well fought race!
Welcome to a new world with Gay marriage, "legalizing" marijuana (which I don't support) and a Black president, how far we've come!
But how far we've got to go!
