Welcome Christmas Day!

Where does one even start with the pure JOY that is Christmas Day!? Eric and I SPRING out of bed every year like a couple of 10 year olds and nearly RUN to the tree to open gifts! This year was a little different for us because Tim and Katherine are spending their Christmas out here - so we SPRUNG out of bed this morning, exchanged stocking gifts with each other, and then went over to Tim and Katherine's house to exchange stocking gifts with them AND Tim's parent's Marty & Judy!

Aquaman was a GOOD doggy this year, and got TWO toys in his stocking - one is from Dimitra, but ya know! Gracie got a lump of coal!

Chocolate!! Lotion! Panettone! Chocolate! And a How to talk like a Wookiee book... That Santa guy cracks me up!
After dashing through the POURING RAIN we had a breakfast of Monkey Bread, Bacon and fruit, then we dished out each other's stocking gifts, and went to town! The Oleson Santa's got us some little boozies, and some Red Velvet coffee and Pancake batter, and an avocado slicer! He also got Aquaman an Elk Antler, and Gracie some premium cat food - apparently the Oleson Santa thinks Gracie is a good kitty!
It was fun to just sit in the present opening chaos and enjoy each others company. As is their tradition, we also got a scratch lottery ticket in our stocking! Judy won $5 and Kat won $2!
That's Mr. Seven - he doesn't EAT paper... he just carries it around in his mouth. He's a funny guy!
This was about the time Katherine found a little scroll of paper in her stocking telling her to head out to the Car to retrieve a present from Eric, Abby and Tim from the trunk!
She was (rightfully) a little apprehensive to see what was in the box!
And once she realized what it was - we all burst into laughter!
That's right folks... Tim, Eric and I made her a Googley Eye Vest.... Longtime joke ... funny to us!
Don't worry - Tim followed this up with a REALLY nice NorthFace Vest!
I didn't get a shot of Kat opening her gifts, but we got her earrings, new tupperware, a giant cutting board and a vintage 1960's Sweater I found at an antique store. But here's Tim (a 10 year Seahawk fan) getting his first Seahawks Jersey! He was beyond excited!
By this time Aquaman was quite bored with our antics, but we opened our gifts from Tim and Katherine next, and we got a Cooking class! Along with a crafty book for me, and a cook book for Eric and some new kitchen towels! We're super excited to go to HipCooks and have a class of our choice!
At last we were done opening gifts, and got things cleaned up and then... I forced everyone into a family photo!

But they all forgave me because it turned out so Great!
Then we headed home to open our gifts to each other! We spoiled each other, but kept within our budget! It has been such a wonderful Christmas!

 My Scary new Bear Hat!
This was opening my Munsters Minimate Drag Car - I got a LOT of Halloween stuff for Christmas (yay!)
Eric and his new scarf opening his next gift :)
A Break for our traditional Christmas Morning Photo!
Folks, I introduce you to the laziest dog ever - he's been sleeping ALL. DAY. LONG - this was just the beginning!
A New thermos mug, gloves, Muppets, Camera Strap, Hat... the list goes on!!!
 My new Monster purse!

Sleeping Dog --- SHHHHHHH He's STILL SLEEPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eric and his Kenny Powers Face!
 The last gift!
 Nananananananananananan BATGIRL!
 New Slippers!
 A Model Batmobile!

 Bride of Frank!
 A NEW Mustard Seed Necklace!
My Husband is so good to me!
 See? So pretty!
Eric Get his Red Alert - because I'm good to him too :)

Our Christmas aftermath! Oh see that checkered bag in the left bottom corner? My new purse !
 Baby Wookiee
 AND Baby Fett!
 My Happy Boys!
See the whites of these eyes? This is the last time today - I'm sleeping!
Oh yeah - Gracie was there too.... mostly staying away from us, but she's so pretty!

We have spent the rest of our night hanging out at home, playing with our presents, eating meat and cheese, and watching Christmas shows!

We took a short break from that and went out to look at Christmas lights around Normandy Park and Des Moines.

Merry. Merry. Merry Christmas!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
