Mick Kelly's Fundraiser

Jamie, Molly & Noelle!
With the whirlwind that was my Dad's visit, I kind of forgot to post about this!
Our Relay for Life team hosted a fundraiser at Mick Kelly's Pub in Burien on April 17th!

Last year, when I disbanded "The Hope Corps" after not having much success in people WANTING to be on my team and fundraise each year, I was asked by Team Simpson to join their team, and let me tell you, it's a whole lot of FUN being on Team Simpson! Their passion for Relay is endless, and I really love putting together fundraisers and helping keep the spirit of Relay alive with them!
Adrian, one of the owners of Mick Kelly's Irish Pub in Burien opened his doors to us, and basically let us run his joint for th eday. We hung out all day and hosted a silent auction and collected a $10 cover charge for those coming to eat at Mick Kelly's that night.

We raised nearly $5,500 that night - and I think it was in large part to our amazing team. But the Tutu's didn't hurt!

Joanne came and took pictures for us - so there are a LOT more to come... but here are the few I took!
Me and Jamie & Noelle! We were rocking the Relay Look!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
