One Week, Lost in Time.

I took vacation this week, It felt so good to not be "Plugged in" and staring at a computer screen. I think I looked at my lap top once.

That being said, it wasn't much of a "Vacation". Eric and I painted our home.

I have always wanted to put a little color on our walls, but living in a rental has made that not much of a reality. A couple years (yes, I just said years) ago we checked with our land lord and she said we could go ahead and that they'd even pay for it to be done, or the supplies if we wanted to do it ourselves.

We thought about it, and cogitated, and stuck it on the back burner, and when I took this week off over 3 months ago, I declared that it should be the week we finally paint our apartment. I never dreamed that we'd actually DO it.

So, the week quickly approached, and I found myself in a bit of a rush, we hadn't even been to Lowes to pick out a color.

I went, with Katherine on Sunday and I brought home about 20 samples of blues, yellows, and greens, and Eric looked at them and decided he didn't like any of them, so back to Lowes we went at 8pm, and picked out browns and greys.

We both settled on a tan...

So, Monday Morning we went to Lowes, and in one day we had completely cleared out our living room and finished our back wall, and our entry walls.

Tuesday, we moved on to complete the living room, kitchen and hallway.

Wednesday, we did the bedroom and put it back together again.

Today, well we're tired today - we moved around a little, I did some touch up, Eric vegged, and I spent time moving things from one side of the house to the other. We're still not settled in but we're getting there.

Both of us are hesitant to put holes in our newly beautified walls.

I'm back to work tomorrow for the day - but this weekend, we'll have more moving, setting up, and getting settled. I'm thrilled with the way our place looks, and that we're both thoughtfully setting up our home again.

For now? I'm vegging and headed out to our back porch here in a few minutes to watch the fireworks, both amateur and professional.

Happy SAFE and fun 4th everyone!

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
