The Blessing of Our New Home

Once the moving boxes came into place, Tim decided he would like to do a blessing on their new home, he was excited for Eric and I to be part of it with him and Kat as this transition was so unique. We said a short prayer and poem together and it was short, but very sweet. Tim was going to then bless our house when they moved the remainder of their stuff out, but things got a little busy and we kind of forgot to do it.

So, Wednesday evening on the eve of a New Year, We blessed our home!

Blessing a house is simply taking the authority over it that belongs to you and dedicating it to the Lord. It is inviting the Spirit of God to come and everything else to leave.
The believe in house blessings is that it is the best way to dispel darkness is to turn on a light. By blessing your house, property and possessions you are consecrating them as holy unto the Lord and you are dispelling the darkness.

I figure, it can't hurt to ask God to be in and work in your new home. So, here are a few highlights of our blessing.

It is my prayer that our new house will bring us peace, love and fulfillment in our life. It is our prayer that we will dwell in this house together, and make it our home.
It is our prayer that our new home will:
-          Be filled with peace
-          Be filled with laughter and joy
-          Be a place of refuge
-          Be a safe place
-          Be a place where strangers feel welcomed for they may be angels
-          Be a place where GOD will meet all our needs
-          Be a place where love abounds
-          Be a place where we will experience GOD’s magnificent grace.
-          Be a place of blessings, both big and small
-          Be a place where our dreams are discovered and shared
-          Be a place of prayer, and praise.

From Psalm 122:7 – “Peace be within your walls, and security within your towers”

From Joshua 24:15 – “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Rising sun !
When you shall shine, make this house happy.
Beautify it with your beams, make this house happy.
Guard the doorway from all evil; make this house happy.
Heavy Rain! Your virtues send, make this house happy.
May peace around this family dwell; make this house happy.

May God Bless this home,  and all who live here, and all who visit here.
May our home be filled with God’s love and the love we share with one another.
May peace, harmony, and laughter, be ours in abundance as long as we live here together.
May we be granted fulfillment and abiding joy.
May God’s Spirit Watch over all of our friends and family.
May our home tend the sick, Rest the weary, Calm the suffering, pity the afflicted, and protect the joyous.
May God’s presence bless our home.

We ask a warm place by the fire, When the world is cold, A light in the window when the way is dark, A welcoming smile, when the road is long, A haven of love when the day is done.

Lord, we ask you to bless our family, for the blessing of this home we give thanks.
And when we are burden with Chores and the work that we are taking on with our new place, let us remember…

“I am grateful for the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and floors that need waxing because it means I have a home.”  ~Author Unknown

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
