Insert Yucky Love Sounds here…

I don’t LOVE Valentine’s Day, on a normal year I ignore it altogether – or hope it lands on a weekend so I really don’t have to deal with it. But this year, I’m feeling more tolerant of said fake holiday. I even brought a few treats for my beloved co-workers, because who doesn’t need a little chocolate on a Friday?

So, in celebration, of Love today, I wanted to share our love story …

Summer of 2003 – I moved to Washington for the summer, working at an internship with Grace Lutheran Church.  Eric worked with the youth, and I met him that summer. When I saw him, I asked Tim if he had a girlfriend, much to my dismay the answer was yes, but we still got to know each other through working with the youth program that summer.

Fast Forward – Summer 2005 – Tim and Eric were taking a road trip to South Dakota and Minnesota. They got the idea to meet up with me to say hello! We got together to have some Potato Ole’s at Taco Johns in Watertown, and when we parted ways we had exchanged e-mail information.
Eric got back to Seattle after the road trip, e-mailed me because he really enjoyed our short time together.

We communicated over e-mail occasionally… but no huge sparks, just friendly banter with a few phone calls here and there.

I was really unhappy bar tending in South Shore and living in the Midwest, I had bounced between a few different jobs and I was ready to make a BIG Change in life. So, I had decided to move to Seattle, Eric was excited, but let me be clear, he had NO hand in “talking me into it”. We hadn’t talked for weeks prior to me making this decision.

I flew out to Seattle in January of 2006; I had a job interview and an apartment to find. I did both, successfully and happened to land a boyfriend too! In my 1 week in Seattle searching for my livelihood, Eric and I fell for each other pretty quick.

We had our first kiss on January 13th 2006 and it’s been true love ever since!

Our courtship was fast and furious – we knew right away that we were in it for the long run!

On December 24th 2006 Eric proposed in front of our first Christmas tree with a beautiful ring that I knew NOTHING about!

We were married on June 9th 2007 and love life together.

Awwwh… now isn’t that a sweet story?

I love my Husband... Life is so sweet with him!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
