I see my way down Home!!!!

In retrospect... I'm so glad that we went and "invaded" our home last summer when I was there to visit. Shannon, Erica, Eric and I drove down the driveway, looked at the buildings, and enjoyed our scenery. We told stories, and pointed out the trees we planted, and where trees should be that we ran over with the lawn mower (Sorry Mom!).

It left an aching in my heart for this place, this home is what I think of  when I think Home in South Dakota. I mused with Eric that If we were millionaires we'd buy this place and use it as our "vacation home". This is the one place that holds all my happy memories from my childhood.
And now, it's gone.

Every time I'd come down the stretch of road where this house stood I'd exclaim
" I See my way down home!!!!"

On each occasion that I've visited South Dakota in the past 8 years, I've made a trek to this home to see it. Just to enjoy it. I'm so glad I got to share the place with Eric, and not have to rebuild it from my memories for him. I even got to ride Spanky one last time!

It has been inhabited by someone for quite some time, we sold our farm when I was in 6th grade.
We moved to "The City" of Watertown, and left Home behind. For so long, someone lived here, and cared for it. For many years it was their home too.

Now, they've decided to move on, and build a new home for themselves, and sadly, that means this one had to go.

I cried real tears when I saw this, and spent most of my night revisiting the photo.

I know that the memories aren't physically held in this home, but it's still hard to see it go.

Oh love, its a hard day when you see your childhood memory holder broken down as if it has nothing left offer, it so sad to me that everyone can't see all memories in the peeling paint and leaking roof... I miss my grandparents house that I grew up in too, We can cry silent tears together while looking at old pictures :-) Hugs

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
