Erica's Visit | Wednesday, Thursday & Friday!

Now that we've got the senior photos posted... let's rewind to Wednesday afternoon when she hopped off the plane! I was so excited to have her here! It's been a long awaited event, we started talking about this last year! Erica graduates in May and this was her graduation present from Auntie Abby & Uncle Eric. She got to choose, either we would fly there to attend her graduation, or we'd fly her out here to go to Comicon! Well, she choose. And Wednesday afternoon she landed in Seattle! Though I'm a little bummed I won't be there to see her in a mortar board cap and gown, the quality time we had here together was priceless.

First thing Thursday Morning we took a walk in the woods, this little lady is such a tree hugger! She loves nature, and flowers, and everything to do with the out doors! It was a nice catch up time for us!

Then, we got ready and put on our geek ware for our first day at Emerald City Comicon.

We walked around all day, and she was in awe of some of the artists and writers she got to see. It was fun to show her around, but mostly I let her lead to what interested her.

On Day One she didn't quite understand why we'd stand in line like this... to go to Comicon.
By middle of the day on Day two, she was hooked.

We  all got new books, toys and prints, but Erica and I also each adopted one of these Tenticle Kitties. We LOVE them!

Mine is the blue one, her's is the Calico.
Then, we got home, and fed her Thai food for the first time. And we all spent the evening sharing our books and finds from the day.
Day two at Comicon kicked off right meeting Reis of Funko Fame. He is a friend of ours that we see at Comicon and local toy shows alike. He's an extremely talented artist that helps draw what becomes this, in smaller form... they're called Funko Pop. I was glad Erica was able to meet him.
Here she is in line for day two...
There was so much cosplay this year that we liked... it was awesome!

Erica even found a few of HER favorite characters from Steven Universe!

Here's her loot at the end of our two days at Comicon. Not bad if I do say so myself! And... the kicker is... she even fit it ALL in her suitcase!
After Comicon we were all pretty bushed, so Eric went with a friend to dinner, and Erica and I headed to Red Robin for some burgers. Then we hit the Des Moines Marina to explore... and soak in that sea air.

It was a great night, and one I'll cherish. Thanks Erica for great conversation and company.

Merry Craftmas!!

When I was little Mom had one of these to put out every Christmas. I remember her tossing it out having fixed its hot glue after every warm summer in the shed, she wasn't particularly attached to it but I was. Having collected enough baby food jars (finally) I put it together this weekend! Looks just like I remember it and now it is sitting in my closet awaiting its debut next weekend!

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

8 Years Ago Today...

8 Years ago today... I was in the Kent/Des Moines Park and Ride puking in the bushes because I was SO Nervous about my first day at KMS. I didn't know If I could hack it in the big city. I didn't know a thing about being a Receptionist, and I didn't even know what a Broker/Dealer was, but I swallowed the lump in my throat and decided to take it head on. I've learned SO MUCH - an Immeasurable amount of life and work lessons from my 8 years at KMS, and I could muse all day long about the Farm Fresh 22 year old you see to the left and how naive she was. KMS has given me a gift of balancing a work life and a home life and still being able to give my 110% when I'm at work without losing my balance. When I walked in the door this morning, my co-workers had created this celebration from me, and after they arrived, it got bigger with gifts, and notes, and cards, and decorations. They wanted to celebrate me, and my achievements here, though If they would have kn...
