Family Time

Yes, This happened. Saturday night!  I was super excited, and I got 4 photos before the cat ran for help, but I can't really decide which of the 3 that actually turned out I like best... So I posted all of them here!

Celebrating More Birthdays!

The motto of the American Cancer Society is "Celebrating More Birthdays". So I thought that it would be pretty appropriate to post pictures from Eric's birthday on Wednesday and the pictures from our Relay Bowling Kick-Off from today!  I am all about more birthdays! 35 Candles is pretty scary!  My Handsome birthday boy!  He didn't set off the smoke alarms, but we were kind of afraid he would!   On to the Relay Kick Off!  We had quite a few people show up this year! I was pretty impressed! Here's Joanne who swears she doesn't like to have her picture taken, which is why she takes the pictures! Here she is giving her RELAY pitch... and she's GOOD! Sorry it's a little out of focus!  Kat stopped by to roll a few with us!  So did Ikaika & Keaka! Ikaika really wanted to kick the ball, so he would wind up and kick it and then Keaka would shove the ball down the lane for him! It was super cute!  Miss Lelani came to bowl too - she's my budd

Seven on Sunday

1| We watched Crazy Stupid Love this weekend - It was super cute! And Ryan Gossling is a total dish! 2| I rarely cook dinner, so Eric was excited when I told him I was going to take on the challenge of goulash this evening. Upon turning on the stove top, and getting the meat cooking - the back burner made a loud popping noise and a spark flew up from it - and then the stove (and oven) quit working. Awesome. We have a call into our landlords, and hopefully by the end of next week we can quit eating out because our stove will be working again - or we'll have a new one. 3| It's not secret that Gracie is a mean cat. She has been warming up here and there - tonight she sat on the couch right next to me. The whole family was on the couch at once - I was happy... and then I took a few pictures of the auspicious occasion, and she ran for the hills. That type of love is NOT to be documented. 4| My knee has been really bothering me lately. I am suspecting that my GP doctor didn'

Sidney Koko

She's here! Heidi & Hermann's second little girl! She arrived this morning (via c-section) and she's healthy, and the parents are happy! Sidney came in at 7lbs 14oz and 19.5 inches long! Congratulations on being a Big Sister Aubrey and Congratulations to your new addition Alikpokou family! Love you all a ton!

Happy 35th Birthday My Husband!

To my Husband on your birthday. You are amazing. I grabbed your favorite photo of you and a couple "buddies" to celebrate you on your special day.  You're 35 today, but you never cease to show me the world through a childlike view and you always make me smile even on my roughest days.  Your support of me is unwaivering, and your encouragement never stops, you are wonderful.  Thank you for being mine, for helping me in life, in Series 7 and in battles with the cat. I love that you are always on my side in everything, it means the world to me. So my love, I hope you have the most amazing day! Indulge and remember, your birthday is special because it celebrates my wonderful you!

50 faces... My heart melts

Julie posted this picture on Facebook today. It makes me smile so wide I nearly tear. Look at that group! That is the group that came to walk in my Mom's memory at Relay for Life in Watertown the day of her funeral. Each one of these people are special, and wonderful....and It was such an amazing feeling to have everyone there. We added several people after this photo was taken, but we managed to wrangle a vast majority of everyone there for Mom in one shot - which in and of itself is pretty awesome! Thanks for the photo Julie, I love it!

Missing the Little Things...

It hits me pretty suddenly, and most often I can't even feel the creep of emotion. I was walking in Fred Meyer yesterday with Katherine when I walked by some Worthers Original Candies, and just like that I had a catch in my throat and a smile on my face, Mom always kept a few of these in her purse, and often the were there forever, but she liked the candies a lot. Both her and I had a little sweet tooth, so she would keep something on hand just in case. I of course bought myself a bag, and plan to eat myself sick, but It really dawned on me how fast missing her hits. Like this morning when I was going to get in the shower and I was thinking about Eric's birthday coming up (on Wednesday!) and I got to thinking about how my birthday isn't far after that, and then my thoughts trailed to my Mom being the first (always) to call me on my birthday, singing Happy Birthday and going on a long diatribe about "The Day you were born" and often would make me run a few minutes

Seven on Sunday

1| Since Ten on Tuesday was a challenge for me last week... and well, has been for a little while now, I'm going to change this up and go for a 7 on Sunday... we'll see how long this lasts, normally I totally forget about the internet world on Sundays, so well. Stay tuned! 2| I have been rewarding myself with 5 minutes on Pinterest for every time I get through my flash cards with my Series 7 studying. Let's just say 5 minutes on Pinterest isn't much so I tend to be itching to get on there, and speeding through my cards... new plan in place as of NOW. 3| Today was awesome - Katherine and I went gallivanting to the Wallingford / Phinney ridge area of the city. I really love that area! We started out with a Cupcake at Trophy (YUM) and then to the Sock Monster for a fancy new pair of socks to go along with my Grave Danger fandom. Then, we went to eat in the U district and then to an art gallery and a bit of grocery shopping to wrap things up. We also talked about our fu

Season Ticket LOVE!

I was so jittery excited to go to Rat City today I probably could have vibrated my way to Key arena on excited energy alone! Derby is back in town baby! Yeah! I have a new favorite skater. Anya Heels is so much fun to watch ! She is a tall girl who can jam like a super star! She didn't skate last year because she had a knee injury and her knee brace is massive and she still skates like a dream! I am beyond impressed. Though I need to mention Nehi Nightmare who is teeny tiny and showed the most amazing footwork. And of course, ReanimateHER who is a favorite! Shovey Chase was totally smacking people off the track left and right - you are scary, and amazing!

My New Niece

Tony, Julie and the boys adopted a puppy into their family today. For now, they'll call her "Baby Girl" but I'm excited to hear which name wins the debate. It's really exciting for their family, but Tony's first born will always be his absolute favorite... Oh Kohlie girl we love you too! Don't let that new baby take your space!

Snowpocalypse 2012

It's no secret that a few inches of snow in Seattle = Complete Chaos. This morning when I left my house we had a few inches, and the roads were pretty quiet. It took me nearly 2 hours to get to work, which was a bit longer than my normal 45 minute commute. Oh Seattle, your ways confuse me. Either way, I'm safe and sound at work, and itching to go home.  I was enjoying the silent snow, because there's something just a little magical about a quiet surrounding while in a winter wonderland.  The roads weren't TOO bad, and the bus driver seemed to know what he was doing, which trust me is a rarity with dear Metro.  But good thing my Momma taught me how to bundle properly! Seattle sweet Seattle... I hope I can get home tonight!

Still Skateless

I have been thinking less and less about derby skating lately and more and more about just skating in general. My knee is still weak, I am still a ways away from skating and even further from derby skating. I have been asked a lot about "when am I going to be on a team" and really, I don't know the answer to that, and I'm not entirely sure if it will ever happen at this point. I guess I'm a little discouraged, but mostly taking derby practice out of my life freed up my time, and after spending an entire weekend doing next to nothing I don't feel entirely guilty about not skating right now. Right after my injury I felt pressure to get back on wheels asap, but I think taking my time and listening to my body has been the best answer for me. I would like to get back to the rinks at least once a week here in the near future, but I am mostly concentrating on being able to walk up stairs without pain. It's the little things in life! Rat City season opener is on S

My Series 7 Helper

He's such a Momma's boy. I laid down on the living room floor to study for my 7 and he just about couldn't wait for me to get settled before he nestled himself right up on my butt. What a silly pup. I love him.

Ten... Er... Seven on Tuesday

1| I sometimes wonder if my brain could melt into a liquid goo and seep out my ears. Seriously, over tired this week and dear GOD it's only Tuesday. 2| in other news, news you already know - SEASON TICKETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3| I haven't been feeling great latley, I think it's lack of sleep plus overload of caffeine minus exercise equals gross. 4| I have therapy bands and have been working my knee out like crazy - it's time to get this girl back on wheels. 5| We may have officially picked our vacation destinations for the year. Looking forward to it, though not officially announcing anything... yet. 6| Is it just me or does 2012 seem like a total shock to you? Every time I type it it makes me giggle because it just doesn't even look right, and I remember being little thinking 2012 was an ETERNITY away... 7| Aquaman has been a momma's boy lately, he came to me last night after I studied (too much) and was headed to bed, and kind of whined. He wanted l

Season Ticket Holder!

Wow - Back to back Derby posts! I like that!  We got our Season tickets in the mail for the Rat City 2012 season! I've never ever in my life held season tickets for anything, and I am freaking out! I can't wait for bout #1! Next weekend! RAAAAT~~~ CITY!!!!!!!!!!!

Photoshoot : Megan Slater, Derby Girl

So, last year when Megan asked me to photograph her and her friend Amanda for their dating profiles in 2010 I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to Photograph Megan. Her personality totally comes out, and she's not shy - and if you know Megan, you know she's not shy. She wanted some photos for her blog and for her articles on derbylife.com so She showed up in her gear, and this is what we got - I'm in love with them! I hope she is too! I love the lighting on this one! Tell your friends - Need photos? family photos? fun photos? pet photos? Let me know - I need to broaden my horizon and I'm CHEAP!
