Something New : Mexican Pastries

It was a mighty uneventful weekend for the Ronnebeck family! We started out our Friday night with a chilled cup of Starbucks and a trip to El Habanero which is a little Mexican market in Burien. We went in looking for some Chorizo (also something new for me) and a few spices Eric was on the hunt for to make a recipe he’s been studying. We picked up a few pastries out of pure curiosity and the fact that they were 2 for $1.00! We were on our way out the door when the lady behind the counter asked us to take one more pastry each since it was our first time at El Habanero! We were delighted to try more! They were delicious, I found myself drooling in anticipation of going back and trying more! After much googling, this is what I found that kind of looks like what we picked up, and I found a little ad for El Habanero!

They’re good people, go shop there; for the pastries if nothing else. After El Habnaero we went home and Eric cooked the most fantastic pulled pork quesadillas and I worked on catching up on my blog, Mom’s blog & got Skype Installed! I am looking forward to getting Mom on Skype so we cannot be so lonesome for each other.

Saturday morning we slept in… and it felt SO GOOD! We made Chorizo and egg breakfast burritos - (obviously on a Mexican kick) and we spent the early evening at a Grad party for Lauren. We got a wild hair and headed to Iron Man 2 (two thumbs up) for the evening and before we knew it, 9:00pm!

Sunday morning I woke early-ish (relatively speaking) and Mariya came over, we had lunch at Lago Azul and came home to Eric elbows deep in Italian cuisine. We went back out and shopped around South Center, looking for the worlds perfect bracelet for the cutest shirt, I am pretty impressed to say we were successful … for the most part. Mostly it was nice to catch up with Mariya and spend some time being girly.

So, there you have it… the uneventful Ronnebeck weekend, Gosh I love weekends like this!
Happy Monday everyone!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
