Ugly Sweater 5k!

So... this past month I sent an e-mail to my co-workers trying to talk them into going to the Ugly Sweater 5K with me. I registered right away knowing that weather or not I could talk anyone into going with me I was going!

This is my element - CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although, the Reindeer on my shirt was a little phallic... it was nothing compared to the snowmen carrots on this lady.

This little guy was totally into it!

This was our start line!

This guy was a pretty good Dj - he kept everyone pretty happy and hyped up!

The 5K was more like a 2 miler... but it was still a ton of fun - lots of great Christmas music at every stop and an abundance of Hot Cocoa!

Dawn isn't much for getting her photo taken - but I was loving this thing too much not to take a couple!

Lots of cheerleaders at the finish line! It was fun to come through that Candy Cane!

This was the "Snow" they had which was actually a bubble machine... but it made the floor kind of slippery.

I can't wait till next year!!!!!!!!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
