Retropalooza

It took me a minute to get around to this post, I'm not sure if it's because we scored so much awesome it too me a while to find the words, or if I'm still recovering from the discovery that at one point in life there WAS a Dennis Rodman Bride Barbie.
Or that at some point it was selling in stores for $35.00 OR the fact that I could buy one at this toy show for $25. Maybe I should have snagged it, there's a couple people selling them on Ebay for $60 plus claiming it's "rarity" Oh E-bay, you humor me!
I digress... Let's talk about Retro Palooza! Shall we?

Eric's friend Emilio and his brother Steven put on this show with some toy vendor friends of theirs. The primary items there were retro games and action figures, but it was kind of a mixed bag of toys!

We didn't spend much, but we came home with a TON of toys. I think it probably had a lot to do with the fact that we went near the end of the day, and it was pretty slow. Vendors just wanted to get rid of their stuff at that point!

I got two Monster Magazines about the Wolfman which are copywrighted 1974, an ET Colorforms playset. (completely ridiculous). Two whole bags of vintage Mickey Mouse Toys (they were cheap!) and a Grandpa Simpson to get one more Simpson closer to completing my Lego Simpson Set!

This one was pretty thrilled to have us home after the show - we weren't there very long but he missed us!

My Happy Place

I have a lot of happy space in my world - but the happiest of all is Marvista Park in Normandy Park, just a few short miles from my house. It's the one place where I can go, be a kid, and then feel completely refreshed afterwards. Vacation is coming... T minus a few weeks now, and I feel like I've earned the crap out of it this year! But until then, a weekly trip to my happy place with the furry one should do it!  I love his little feet trying to take on the leaves! So cute.

The Wreath

It all started with Pinterest - yes, that rant about Pinterest still stands, but this was inspired from there. I wanted to recreate a wreath of bulbs, I hate buying wreaths since they expire year after year, this one will hang in my home for a LONG time, possibly till I die... that is how much I love how it turned out! So, being my crafty (and somewhat frugal) self, I set off to find the materials to make it. Finding that bulbs are not quite as cheap as you'd expect, I found them for 80% off.  This wreath, at cost would have run me about $125. ACK! I made it for under 35%! So pretty! So pleased! Many have asked me to make one for them - my answer - you buy the bulbs and materials and I'll glue it together!

Thoughts of the American Pride Persuasion

I sat, mesmerized as I watched the “Breaking News” of the past 24 hours – Osama Bin Laden, Dead. What? I can’t really deny my mixed feelings about posting today. I don’t normally jump into the political rings but I can’t deny the HUGE news that swept our nation yesterday. So, this post has been thought out, a lot, typed really slowly, every word, intentional. Which is a huge leap from my normal ramblings of a Monday morning. We were sitting on the couch watching a movie, the movie ended and Eric turned on the news, and we watched, in awe. Just like September 11 th , I’ll always remember where I was when I heard the news. I can’t say I was ready to strap on a flag superhero cape style, and run up and down the street chanting “USA… USA… USA” like hundreds and thousands of other Americans in DC and New York, but then again, I wasn’t near ground zero, in Pennsylvania or at the pentagon the day that Osama Bin Laden became a household name. The American in me wants to be happy and
