I swear it sneaks up on my every year.
Lent is one of my favorite times of the year. I find it easier to devote myself and get myself on the right path with some guidance from above!
I'm not going to PREACH to you about WHY you should TRY to give something up for lent, but let me tell you why I do. I came across an article from Pastor Karla from the United Methodist Church down the street from my house that pretty much summed it up...
"Lent is a time for self-improvement, not just ANY self-improvement, but self-improvement in the kind of Christian that we want to be. Most habits can be formed after being practiced for 6 weeks. And, conveniently, Lent happens to be... 6 weeks long!
What changes will you make? What habits will you form?... Will we add something to our lives that Will make us better people, like daily time for God, exercise or Volunteer work? What Holy changes will this season bring?"

So, I challenge you... Try it... It's just 40 days, 6 weeks... with adding something good and taking away something bad... stay tuned to see what I'm challenging myself with for Lent!
