Wednesday Musings

There just might be an entire explosion of Halloween decorations in my house this morning, and it’s quite possible that I’m wearing Halloween socks & a Halloween hair tie to work today. Eric texted me and told me It looks like Halloween “THREW UP” in our living room… that’s the way I like it! It’s also possible that I’m devastated at the events that occurred with a cracked Halloween coffee mug; and that I thought today was the 30th last night when I was decorating. All things aside, I’m ready for Halloween! I pulled out my pea coat this morning to wear to work and on my walk down the block I realized how chilly it was outside! When did fall get here? I need to investigate a wool scarf and a new coffee mug, I have a feeling I’ll be drinking coffee more frequently in the coming days, and months, to wake me up and warm my bones. There’s so much going through the brain of Abby recently, and blogging has not been easy. I thought of “taking a sabbatical” from blogging, but then I realize

Slice of Life : The Sunshine of my life Edition

Outside my Window: A very fall day in Seattle, - Rainy, Wet, and yet, somehow, still beautiful. I'm thinking: About my storage unit full of Halloween decorations, today, tomorrow? Friday – when are they going to go up? What’s your guess? I'm Thankful For: Advances in Medical Technology. Between Mom, Shannon and Dad, I’m so thankful for all that Doctor’s know nowadays. From the Kitchen: I’m praying for something other than Chili tonight, two giant bowls later - though delicious... I'm done. I am wearing: An outfit that makes me look “30’s something accounting”. Black pants, green sweater, hair in pony tail, obnoxiously loud jewelery. I'm going: straight home after work for some R&R and homemade food, and puppy love! I'm hoping: that we can find a cure, that doesn’t involve invasive things that make my Mom sick and that she gets better like yesterday. I’m hoping that the spot on Shannie’s lung isn’t cancer, and that Dad keeps himself on the straight and nar

Aqua-Fall

Aquaman deemed it necessary to help me decorate for fall yesterday. Just like normal he's laying right in the middle of what I"m trying to do. What a dog! Fall is starting to peek out here and there, but I haven't launched a full blown explosion on the house like I normally do. I'll work on it!

Last of the DC-Ness

Tuesday morning was my first day of Work in DC. I am proud of myself, because I woke up, took a cab to the Metro Rail station, took the Metro Rail to Rockville and then another Cab from the Rockville Station to FINRA . I was navigating the Metro Rail like a pro! I spent the day at FINRA learning more than I thought possible in 8 hours! It was such a great experience ! I am so thankful I was able to go! After working 8 hours, I navigated the Metro Rail back to DC, and over to the Navy Yard stop (switching from the Red line to the Green line like a rockstar ), and met up with Eric, and Rachel! Rachel is Eric's friend Lee's lil sister! She lives in Virginia Beach and drove up to DC to spend time with Eric and I while we were there! I feel like this ballpark had some sort of magic attached to it! I got off the Metro Rail and was walking toward the park when this guy on the street was selling Nat's Hat's for $5. He tried to sell one to me, and I asked him for the &

DC : Day Two

Monday morning we headed to the Holocaust Museum and Memorial. This is a place I've heard about for years and years, and with my unnatural interest in the Holocaust, I couldn't be so close to the Museum and not go. I told Eric he didn't have to come with me if he didn't want to, but he decided to come any ways and found it really interesting! When we lined up outside to get into the museum we had a very intense screening by security, so intense that I had to take a drink out of my water bottle to prove to the guard that It was water. But since the Holocaust Museum had a shooting a couple years ago, and all the anti- semitism that goes on I can see why they're so on top of it. We weren't able, and really didn't find the desire to take pictures inside the exhibits of the Holocaust Museum. It was a really moving experience , and I highly recommend it to anyone who goes to Washington DC. After getting through the exhibits we went into the Hall of Remembranc

DC : Day One

We were more than excited to get out and moving Sunday morning! We walked down to the metro rail station and went down this crazy long escalator to get to the train. This picture doesn't even do it justice, it was SO steep! Even though I've never seen Star wars, I totally think the Metro rail tunnel looks like it could be a setting for a Star Wars Movie. I was so excited to try out the Metro Rail! We rode the Metro Rail out to Arlington National Cemetery . I was amazed at how vast Arlington was, there were acres upon acres of headstones. We walked up this hill, and our first stop was to see JFK's Eternal Flame. These signs were posted near most grave sites , I was amazed at how respectful people were. They actually paid attention to the signs! There were little street signs directing you to the more popular grave sites and it was quite a walk! I didn't expect it to be super close together, but I was pretty tuckered out by the time I got to the end of our time
